Laidback Luke reveals his reasons for quitting techno

Laidback Luke decided to tell fans his history with techno, and what led him to create in style he is known for today. And he tell us that in 7 minute video, posted on his Facebook page. The video begins with the DJ reviewing his family roots and naming one of his greatest influences, American DJ and producer MK. Laidback Luke then discusses his choice of techno, and performing his very first show in the USA, a techno event taken place in a New York in 1997.
Laidback Luke opens up about the headway he achieved as a techno producer, performing at the world known fest Awakenings in the Netherlands. He says that due to his Filipino roots, he leaned largely towards music which was more cheesy and ballad oriented, and due to his Dutch backgrund, grwing up playing the piano and guitar, he felt that he could not go on producing only techno tracks.
Mentioning the struggle he faced around the turn of the century, Laidback Luke reveals his unwillingness to produce music, finding that techno could not reveal the full extent of his creativity. Despite taking a couple of years to truly take off, he did vntually rach th position h dsird, having th crativ frdom to produc tracks which h njoyd, whil also making mony as a succssful DJ and producr. At the end of the video, Laidback Luke discusses creative freedom, giving the advice not to bonf to one genre when producing music. Artists are often criticized when experimenting with new genres, but Laidback Luke emphasizes the danger of being stuck producing the same music, which will eventually lead to a lack of inspiration. The video was posted following his recent performance in New York in which Laidback Luke played a techno only set.
