David Guetta returns to his roots with Jack Back documentary

David Guetta is one of the worlds best-known DJs and producers in the electronic music industry. Hes one of the titans that brought EDM to the masses with hits like Titanium with Sia or When Love Takes Over featuring Kelly Rowland. He even got to produce the official song for the UEFA EURO 2016, This Ones for You together with Swedish singer Zara Larsson. But like every other artist, even David Guetta started as a small underground artist playing in various clubs.

Last year, together with the announcement of his new and 7th studio album 7, David Guetta also announced his alias Jack Back. With Jack Back, he wants to go back to his roots, the darker, deeper kind of electronic music. This year, on March 28th during Winter Music Conference Miami, Beatport and Guetta premiered a short documentary The Road To Jack Back about him and his alias, followed by a Live Q&A with Guetta himself. He described the reason for going back to a more underground style and for his alias as quoted below:

Since the album represents a full cycle to me I wanted to go back to the beginning of the cycle, where Im coming from. These are actually the type of records that come more naturally to me than pop because Ive done this all my life. I wanted to create something very personal. I get excited by music that is part of a culture and thats why I wanted to make this. There is no commercial approach to it, Im doing it for the love of music.

The documentary tells the story of his becaming a DJ, discovered house music, his first record, and many many basics in his career up to today and Jack Back. It is about 15 minutes long and definitely worth watching to get an insight, not into only David Guettas history, but the career path of a lot of DJs.
